Project: Timeless Proportions

This design was created for Tonati, focusing on a fractured face statue, flowers, and the Vitruvian Man.

The Vitruvian Man served as the foundation of the design, which was gradually enhanced with meaningful and intricate details to bring the concept to life.

The Background

The design draws inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man,

which was influenced by the Roman architect Vitruvius's De Architectura (Ten Books on Architecture).

Vitruvius proposed that human proportions should guide architectural design.

Da Vinci expanded on this idea by meticulously studying and measuring the human body, documenting his findings in his notebooks. He positioned the navel as the center

and demonstrated how the outstretched human form could perfectly fit within both a circle and a square. This study symbolizes harmony and balance, serving as an iconic example of the fusion of art and science during the Renaissance.

The Artist's Perspective

This design reinterprets da Vinci's philosophy and artistic insights in a modern context.

By incorporating da Vinci's handwritten notes and proportional studies, the design reflects the balance between humanity and nature. It aims to honor da Vinci's timeless legacy while adding a contemporary creative touch.

The Design Concept

At the heart of the design is a three dimensional spiral representing the golden ratio a universal symbol of balance and harmony.

Surrounding this central feature are a fractured face statue and flowers, which create a striking contrast between the perfection of the golden ratio and the imperfections of human existence. Just as da Vinci illustrated the human form within a circle and square, this design captures the intersection of art and science in a way that resonates on a personal level.

This project came to life thanks to Tonati's trust and patience. Over two sessions, spanning about five months, we completed the design on the forearm and hand.

I'm deeply grateful to Tonati for their unwavering belief in the process

and their understanding throughout the creative journey. It was truly an honor to bring this vision to life, and I hope this tattoo becomes a meaningful and cherished part of Tonati's story. Thank you so much!
